9th annual
Olin Sports Business Summit
Nov 10, 2023 │12:20 - 5:30 PM CST │BH240
Presented by Gemini Sports analytics
Welcome to the 9th annual Olin Sports Business Summit, presented by Gemini Sports Analytics.
Our complete program will be finalized in late October. At present, we can confirm this year's program will include presentations and/or discussions with Gemini Sports Analytics, Wasserman, Excel Sports Management, Paragon Marketing Group, the USFL, and an additional 6-10 companies spanning the sports industry.
The Business of Sports program within the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis was founded in October 2014 through a generous gift from Joe Lacob, the principal owner of the Golden State Warriors. His son, Kent, is a 2015 graduate of the Olin Business School and was a student-athlete on the Men's Basketball team.
As of November 2023, there are 135 WashU Alums who work in the sports industry. Of these alums, 42% (57 of the 135) graduated from WashU since the creation of the Sports Business Program. This rapid acceleration of industry placements is partially inspired by the connections and networking that events like the Sports Business Summit provide to students and alumni alike.

To that end, we thank Gemini Sports Analytics for being the presenting sponsor for this year's Summit. Not only has Gemini stepped up to collaborate on this year's Summit, but they are also concurrently working with a handful of Olin students on a case project that will further serve the development and experience of the students. Special thanks to WashU alum, Ally Brabant, and Gemini CEO, Jake Schuster, for sponsoring this year's event.
The WashU Alumni network within the sports industry spans the largest leagues (NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, NWSL, PLL), teams with championship legacies (Golden State Warriors, St. Louis Blues, University of Notre Dame, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs), iconic and trend-setting brands (ESPN, ON Shoes, Nike, DraftKings), and best-in-class agencies (Wasserman, Paragon, Excel Sport Management, GSE Worldwide).
The success of the program is indebted to not only the Lacob Family and numerous parents of WashU alums who work in the sports industry, but also to the collaborative and connective spirit demonstrated by our alums and non-alumni who simply are fans of our program.
